FLO FLO THE FENNEC FOX BOOK

In this chapter book written by a 28-year veteran teacher, Flo Flo the Fennec Fox lives in her natural desert habitat in North Africa. One day, Mango the Monkey visits and bullies her by making fun of her long ears and dry habitat.

Thrown together in a rare desert occurrence, a rainstorm, they must join forces to outwit the elements in order to survive a flash flood. Mango learns to appreciate differences in other species and where they live. Both are shocked by the unexpected beauty the rain has left behind.

This book was written to benefit Elmira s Wildlife Sanctuary in Manatee County, Florida, where the real Flo Flo lives. See her at www.elmiraswildlife.org. Scriptor Publishing is donating all profits to help Elmira s care for the many exotic animals they have rescued over the years that, otherwise, would have nowhere else to go.

This book is dedicated to the memory of Charlene Orlando, one of Elmira’s original volunteers.

NEW WOLF CAGE

Great job on the new cage eveyone.

DANTE'S NEW CAGE

August 1st was a very memorable day at Elmira's! Dante, our 16 year old male cougar walked on a natural surface for the first time in his life! He's always lived in a raised cage with a wood plank floor. His beautiful new cage was generously donated by Bill and Gerhea Robbins, who drove all the way from their home in St. Cloud to be there to assist with the move. I can't describe the awesome feeling, seeing this beautiful animal taking his first steps on sand. It made everyone realize that all the donations of time and money were SO worthwhile! Watch the heartwarming video below.

ELMIRA'S WATERMELON

We've been giving the animals more watermelons. Besides being good for them, they provide enrichment for them. Check out Elmira munching on hers!

ELMIRA'S NEW SIGN

We got our beautiful sign put up this week! It certainly makes a very positive and artistic statement as you come up the road. We look so professional! Thanks to Edie and Al who generously donated a huge amount of time and money to see this finally happen.

MISSION STATEMENT

We provide continuing care, life management and enrichment to exotic and wild animals in need of a home. We also provide educational opportunities and programs, increasing community awareness of the needs of these animals.
